Nike Football ZA - Kaizer Chiefs '17/'18 Kit Launch

Together with the Native VML team handling Nike, I helped launch the 2017/18 Kaizer Chiefs soccer kit. Social media made up for the bulk of pre-launch activities, and time was also not on our side, as we had just under 3 weeks until the launch day. 

Solution

We wanted to reveal the kit to the Nike and Kaizer Chiefs audiences live on FB Live and Periscope. Myself and the Nike/KC team conceptualized the live video reveal.

An earlier version of a manifesto I wrote for the campaign. It was later changed, but it's my personal favourite:

This jersey lives in Naturena, but its home is Africa.

It’s worked its way through floodlit pitches from Cape to Cairo.

It’s taken players from eBhuqwini to oorkant.

The black and gold shirt is a symbol of soccer royalty.

Its bloodline has been running since nineteen-van-toeka, my broer.

This is your jersey. These are your colours

For better or for worse, every weekend

Either side of the whistle, in-between Vuzuzela noises.
